Miss Monroe County, Madeline Poupard was our guest speaker today.
Before she spoke Tracy Oberleiter gave a history of the local pageant.
58 years ago,the Monroe Jaycees and the Miss America Organization agreed to let the Jaycees take over the local event and as they say the rest is history.
From our local pageant,we have had 5 Miss Michigan’s (1972,87,89.92 and 2011.Also included in that was the crowning of Kaye Lani Raye Rafko Wilson for the Miss America 1988.
Monroe ranks 25th in the Nation as far as Scholarship fundraising goes.
Miss Monroe spoke on her Social Impact Initiative (platform). It deals with Social Media and the negative post and the impact it has on all of us.One of the biggest things she suggested was, Pause Before You Post.
She concluded her presentation by telling us where she has been already since she was crowned.
We are truly blessed to have the quality of candidates and organizations in Monroe County to support young Miss America hopefuls.
